Assistive device
“Within Reach” contest entry, 2016
The brief for the competition was to design a 3D printed device that would help people with limited hand
dexterity. In response, I designed a tap adapter for people with dupuytren’s
contracture - a condition that causes
their hands to close into fists.
As shown, the simple adapter can be
fitted onto most taps and allows for operation via a closed fist. This forms a
low cost solution compared to refitting all the taps in the home.
The design received an honourable mention
in the contest.
